Full Text Engine Maintenance

To get the Full Text Engine Maintenance function is to click the Full Text button from the Menu Bar.

If the Master Index Path is not the right Search Engine, then click the Browse ... button to find the right Search Engine.

If there are text in left-hand side list box, you can test the Full Text Search Engine by double-clicking the words in the list box to display the word in the Search Text textbox, then click on Full Text Search button to find the text file. If the Full Text Engine works fine, the hit message will appear.

The hit text files will appear on the right-hand side list box. Double-click on the text file name, the "Open OK" message should appear.

To build the Master Index is to add documents into the Search Engine. When the text files are move from one location to another location. Those text files need to be rebuild into Master Index. Then Master Index knows the new text file location.

  1. Make Sure the Master Index is the right one before adding documents.

  2. Assign the File Type (the default is text file and DOC file)

  3. Select the document folder

  4. Select option for including all sub-folders

  5. Select option for building index using Universal Naming Convention (UNC)

  6. Click the Add document to Index button.

I will take time to build or re-build the Master Index, if there are thousands of documents to be added. To build a huge Master Index needs to run the program overnight or over the weekend.

After adding the documents to the Index, click the Close button to return the Paragon Full Text Master Index Builder window. Then to click the Save button to save Master Index Path saved into the Paragon Data View project.
