What does it do?
Prior to the advent of computers the paper work required to track and or
control a project could be anything from a single document to a room full of filing
cabinets, each brimming with documents of one type or another. In fact an old
engineering adage was, “ When the weight of the paper work equals the weight of the product, it is
time to ship”. In this type of environment documents were noted, tagged, indexed and filed
in accordance with some type of system that allowed retrieval at a later date.
Since not all filing systems were alike, in fact, some were unique to the
individual that created it, retrieval could sometimes become quite a headache and
many times impossible. How many times have you shoved a document into a file
somewhere to be reviewed tomorrow while you handle a crises that suddenly comes up?
Then, a week later you’ve either forgotten about the document or can’t remember where you put it.
The Datascan Module allows you the user to convert legacy documents, i.e.
Letters, Photos, Forms, Legal Papers, in other words any paper type document into
its electronic equivalent. A room full of papers can be reduced to a very small
storage area. The physical device that performs this conversion is a scanner. The Datascan Module is a software package that allows you to scan and
convert paper documents into images. It also lets you edit these images so they can
be indexed and filed for retrieval at a later time.
