Paragon Data Suite - OCR Module

The Paragon Data Suite OCR Module provides full-text OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to create a searchable full-text version of the original document.

PDS OCR is essentially an automatic operation performed by the computer. Whether by Scanning and Indexing of documents or by direct import, the PDS OCR module will pick up the batch and display the documents ready to be OCR'd. Then, either through a manual or automatic process (specified by the user), the OCR process creates a text document. The OCR can take time depending on document size; a 10 page document will run much faster than a 1000 page document. OCR results are also dependent upon the quality of the original document and scanner resolution. If the resolution is too low, under 240 dpi (dots-per-inch), characters may be lost or misread. We recommend a resolution of 240 dpi for optimum results.
