Client: Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County
Project Name: Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant 2020 Facilities Plan

Project Description

Property Management of Jointly Owned Railroad Properties including the Alameda Corridor. The Property Manager reports to the Owner Property Operating Committee and coordinates with rail operators, BN&SF & UPRR and the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority, in the approval, licensing and management of third party uses of jointly owned rail properties.

To meet its future growth demands, City Sanitation District No. 14 of Los Angeles City (District) had to expand its Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant. In addition, because of regulatory requirements, the District needed to consider an innovative new method to dispose of treated wastewater. To accomplish these goals, the District targeted the acquisition of 1,500 parcels in over 6,000 acres near Lancaster, California. A portion of the land acquired was used for new treatment plant facilities and the balance was converted from primarily fallow land to active farming using the treated wastewater for irrigation.

The Sanitation Districts are a confederation of independent special districts serving about 5.1 million people in Los Angeles County. The Sanitation Districts' service area covers approximately 800-square miles and encompasses 78 cities and the unincorporated territory within the County.
